The Facts About Window Tint in Tempe
Why Choose Window Tint Installation in Phoenix?
When residing in a place famous for its sun-drenched days like Phoenix, AZ, window tint installation becomes more of a necessity than a luxury.
The options available, such as our two grades of ceramic films, cater to various needs from superior heat reduction to UV protection, without compromising on vehicle aesthetics or electronic functionality.
There is a growing trend in window tint technology with advancements like nano-ceramic films, offering drivers in Phoenix dynamic control over the interior climate of their vehicles.
Moreover, our detailing company in Phoenix considers important factors such as Arizona’s window tint laws, the harsh climate, vehicle specifications, and your personal preferences.
This ensures that you receive a window tinting solution tailored to provide you with the utmost comfort and style. By selecting our service, residents in Phoenix can enjoy long-term benefits, sidestepping the frequent repairs or replacements linked with inferior tints.
Heat Reduction & UV Protection
A major concern for vehicle owners in Phoenix is the intense heat and sunlight that leads to uncomfortable cabin temperatures and potential skin damage.
Quality tints with superior heat rejection properties can drastically reduce heat build-up in your vehicle, making the driving experience far more enjoyable.
Decreased interior temperatures translate to less reliance on air conditioning, lowering fuel consumption.
Additionally, automotive window films specifically designed to block UV rays protect drivers and passengers from harmful exposure that can lead to skin cancer and premature aging.
Enhanced Privacy & Security
While living in Tempe near ASU, Camelback Mountain, and other sections of the Phoenix metro area is relatively safe, it’s always possible for bad actors to be attracted to your luxury vehicle.
Window tint installation offers the dual benefit of enhanced privacy and security.
Tinted windows provide passengers with the privacy they deserve, reducing the visibility into the vehicle and protecting personal belongings from potential theft.
By installing quality tints on your vehicle’s rear windows, you can guard against intrusive onlookers and create a comfortable space for yourself and your passengers.
Protection for Your Vehicle Interior
The strong solar heat and ultraviolet rays in Phoenix can cause significant damage to your car’s interior, whether it’s leather seats, fabrics, or dashboards.
Premium window tints block a substantial amount of these damaging rays, prolonging the life of your vehicle’s interior.
Investing in window film installation services helps in maintaining the aesthetic and functional aspects of your car’s inside, contributing to the car’s resale value and your satisfaction.
Energy Efficiency & Cost Savings
Lastly, window tinting is an energy-efficient upgrade.
It reduces the solar heat entering through the windows, which lessens the need for air conditioning, leading to better fuel efficiency and battery life for electric vehicles.
Professional window tinting services offer significant long-term savings by reducing energy expenditures, minimizing heat-related damage, and prolonging the period between AC maintenance in your vehicle.

Window Tint Installation
At Tempe Auto Spa, we specialize in installing high-quality window film on automotive glass. Our installation process involves precision tools and techniques. Some of the materials used to install tint include water, cutting devices, squeegees, and heat.
While we conduct all tint installations in a controlled, clean-room environment to minimize contamination, microscopic particles or natural elements may affect the result. Rest assured, we strive to deliver the highest quality and attention to detail in every installation.
Airborne Contaminants – Dust / Pet Dander
Dust is an inevitable part of our environment and nearly impossible to eliminate from the air entirely. As a result, keeping it completely off the film is equally challenging. However, we take every possible precaution to minimize its presence. Please note that we cannot guarantee the absence of dust, and minor dust particles.
If the car’s interior is excessively dirty, additional cleaning may be required to maintain a clean environment. Any extra fees will be communicated to the client and agreed upon before the service is performed.
However, this does not eliminate the potential of small airborne contaminants sticking between the film and the automotive glass.
Dot Matrix
Dot Matrix refers to a pattern of small dots applied by the factory along the edges of some windows and the back glass, serving as a decorative border. These dots create slight bumps on the glass, which can cause window film to adhere to the raised areas rather than the smooth surface.
While this doesn’t lead to peeling, it may result in a silvered appearance around the dots. This effect is normal and permanent. As the film dries, it typically settles into a more uniform look, and in some cases, the dots can be gently pressed down to minimize the effect.
Harmonic Distortion
If you’re wearing polarized sunglasses or glasses, you may notice visual anomalies on the glass, such as rainbows, lines, or marks. These are a natural result of the glass tempering process. Please note that Tempe Auto Spa is not responsible for these imperfections. If you would like to have the tint removed, an additional fee will apply.
Electrical Issues After Install
Modern cars are equipped with more electrical components than ever before. While every effort is made to prevent damage during tinting, the process does involve spraying water onto the windows, which can expose these systems to moisture and water runoff, posing inherent risks.
This is particularly important for windshield installations, as water runoff behind the dashboard can potentially damage the vehicle’s ECU. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any damage that may occur to these electrical systems.
*Please ask our Tempe Auto Spa staff before having the installation to understand your risk before work begins.
Legality
In Arizona, vehicles intended for use on public roads are prohibited from having tinted front windows (driver and passenger doors, forward of the B-pillar) or windshields. The only exception is a non-reflective tint with up to 35% VLT allowed on the top 6 inches of windshields in passenger vehicles. Additional tinting is permitted only with a medical exemption, which requires a doctor’s certification and approval from the Arizona Motor Vehicle Department.
The rear windows, including the rear windshield, can legally be tinted to any level of darkness (VLT). However, no window tint may have a mirrored or metallic finish. Additionally, if the rear windshield is tinted, the vehicle must be equipped with dual side mirrors.
Tints that do not comply with Arizona state laws are intended solely for show cars or off-road vehicles that will not be driven on public roads.
101 Motors / Tempe Auto Spa is not liable for any tickets or incidents resulting from non-compliant tinting or the illegal use of a tinted vehicle. Please note, if tint removal is required, an additional fee will apply.
Window Tint Removal
At Tempe Auto Spa, proper installation of new window film requires the removal of any existing film on the glass. This step ensures the new film bonds correctly to the surface, providing optimal performance and durability. Additionally, removing the old tint is essential to validate any manufacturer warranty associated with the new film.
We ONLY use steam to remove old window film from automotive glass. This process will break down adhesives, which makes it easier to remove film. While this technique helps to reduce potential problems, removing window tint, regardless of its type, age, or condition, comes with a few risks. Some of these include the following.
- Scratching of automotive glass
- Inability to remove all adhesive residue from existing tint
- Inability to remove dye transfer embedded in the automotive glass from older window films
- Potential damage to electrical components within automotive glass (including but not limited to, rear defroster, safety systems, temperature control systems).
101 Motors / Tempe Auto Spa can not be held liable for any damage to automotive glass where existing tint needs to be removed.
Aftercare Instructions
UNDERSTANDING THE CURING PROCESS
Your Ceramic Window Film was installed by certified tinters. While the tint has initially bonded to the inside of your windows prior to it being released to you, the adhesive needs some time to cure.
Please follow these directions to ensure your window film cures correctly.
Step 1: Do Not Roll Down Windows For 3-5 Days
The film may take 1-4 weeks to completely cure depending on environmental conditions such as temperature and how much sun the vehicle sees.
The more sun and heat the vehicle sees, the faster the drying process.
Step 2: Be Aware of Some Common Side Effects
Window film is applied with soapy water and as the water evaporates, the film bonds to the glass.
During this time the film may look:
- Hazy
- Foggy
- Streaked
- Orange peel texture
- Water blisters
This is a natural side-effect of the installation process. All of these will go away as the film cures. Do not push or move any water that is trapped in between the glass and the film
CLEANING & DETAILING CERAMIC WINDOW TINT
Ceramic Window Films utilize nanotechnology within the multiple layers of film and the adhesive to provide superior protection against UV and IR emissions from the sun. It due to this technology that using the recommended aftercare cleaners is required, to maintain it’s integrity and reduce damage to the film.
It is CRITICAL to not use ANY cleaning solutions with ammonia or alcohols in the chemical. Most glass cleaners (such as Windex) utilize these two ingredients in their cleaning products.
*NOTE: Ammonia and Alcohols WILL eventually break down the integrity of the film, leading to fading, cracking, and discoloration. Using ammonia or alcohol-based cleaners will void any manufacturers warranty.
Step 1: Do NOT clean your windows for at least seven days after your tint was installed and the vehicle released back to you.
Step 2: For the remainder of the curing process (first full month), you can clean your windows but be sure to use light pressure especially on all edges of the film.
Step 3: Secure the recommended cleaning supplies. For proper cleaning of Ceramic Window Film, we recommend using:
- Americana Global Ceramic Glass Cleaner
- Ceramic Pro Grey Waffle Weave Microfiber Towel
- Ceramic Pro Blue Flat Microfiber Towel
Step 4: Prior to starting the window cleaning process, verify that the windows are cool to the touch. For best results the windows should be cool and out of direct sunlight.
Step 5: Shake up the bottle of Window Film Safe Cleaner prior to use.
Step 6: Spray a fine mist of Window Film Safe Glass Cleaner onto the glass surface. A little goes a long way, so there is no need to saturate the glass surface.
Step 7: Fold a Microfiber Waffle Weave towel into four parts. Use one side of a clean and dry Microfiber Waffle Weave towel to wipe the window.
Step 8: Flip to dry side of towel and buff off the entire window for a streak free finish.
Step 9: If streaks are still visible, use a dry Flat Microfiber Glass Towel to polish the glass.
Step 10: Repeat the process on both sides of the window.
- Never use cleaning solutions with ammonia in them.
- Avoid buildup of sand and dirt in the bottom gasket of a moving window. Use compressed air to blow out the bottom gasket of window seals occasionally.
- Prevent dog claws or anything sharp rubbing on the inside of the window.
- Avoid swinging seatbelt buckle into side window when unbuckling.
Warranty
Our window films come with a manufacturer-backed Lifetime Warranty, covering material defects, fading, discoloration, cracking, and premature adhesive failure. Items that are not covered by the manufacturer warranty include – but are not limited to:
- Damage to film caused by failure to use proper aftercare maintenance as described above.
- Use of any chemical agent or cleaning media that leaves residue or damages the integrity of the film.
- Any surface damage to the window film, such as scratches or tears in the film caused by seat belts, touching, finger nails, pets, or other sources.
- Dust or debris outside of the line of vision.
Additionally, we guarantee the quality of the installation following the completion of the service, ensuring your satisfaction and peace of mind.
If you notice any defects, please report them to 101 Motors / Tempe Auto Spa immediately. We will inspect the issue and, if confirmed, address and repair any flaws in our workmanship.
Understanding Window Tinting Options
Choosing the right window tint for your vehicle involves understanding the many benefits and options available.
However, at The Tempe Auto Spa, we keep the tint selection process simple – by offering two, high-quality ceramic window films; Ultimate IR and Ceramic IR.
Each film offers industry-leading heat rejection properties. This feature is vital for Arizona vehicle owners, as it keeps the interior of your vehicle cooler during the extreme heat seasons.
Our professional window tinting services in Phoenix can guide you through the selection process, ensuring that you opt for a film that meets your personal needs and enhances your driving experience.
Ceramic Window Film
Ultimate IR Ceramic Window Tint
Ceramic window tinting stands out as the premium choice for drivers who want the highest level of protection from the sun’s rays. Ceramic tints use a non-conductive ceramic particle to provide exceptional heat resistance, blocking out both UV rays and infrared heat. This results in superior heat rejection while maintaining clear visibility.
Ceramic tints are also resistant to fading and don’t have the shiny appearance that often comes with metalized tints, maintaining the original look of your vehicle. Importantly, they are designed not to interfere with electronic signals, making them ideal for modern vehicles with integrated navigation and communication systems.
Ceramic IR Film
If you’re seeking an economic window tint, but don’t want to compromise quality, Ceramic IR film is the choice for you.
The Ceramic IR film by KAVACA (or Ceramic Pro) is another higher-end option that offers significant advantages for Tempe residents.
Upon installation, the nano-ceramic particles in the film acts as a barrier that blocks up to 94% of the infrared radiation – which is responsible for heating your vehicle’s interior.
Along with reducing inside temperatures, the crisp tints (available in multiple VLTs or shades) delivers a sleek, attractive appearance. Unlike dyed tints, ceramic films are durable and won’t fade easily over time, which means they provide a consistent and long-lasting performance with one installation.
