If you’re a car enthusiast or a luxury car aficionado, you know that the release of a new Porsche model is more than just an event; it’s a celebration. But, adding full vehicle protection is the icing on the cake. The 2024 Porsche GT4 RS doesn’t disappoint. Designed for those who crave adrenaline and luxury in equal measure, this latest offering from Porsche promises to be a game-changer.

Under the hood, the 2024 Porsche GT4 RS boasts a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine, producing an exhilarating 502 horsepower. This beast is paired with a seven-speed PDK transmission, ensuring rapid gear shifts and a seamless driving experience. The car’s lightweight design, featuring extensive use of carbon fiber, only adds to its performance credentials.

But it’s not just about speed and power. The GT4 RS is meticulously crafted to deliver an unparalleled driving experience. From its aerodynamic enhancements to its precision-tuned suspension, every aspect of this car is designed to offer the ultimate in driving pleasure.

The GT4 RS promises to turn heads and elevate your driving experience to new heights. But this attention getter does put a dent in the pocketbook and stimulates a need to protect that investment – especially when you live in the hostile Valley of the Sun.

The solution for ultimate exterior protection? Full Vehicle Paint Protection Film, Luxury Window Film, and Nanoceramic coatings.

The team at The Tempe Auto Spa recently completed a full vehicle protection project on this hypnotic GT4RS. Let’s review the process – and show how our team of prep, installation, and quality assurance experts took this brand-new Porsche and equipped it with the ultimate shield of protection.

Step 1 – Full Exterior Decontamination

At the Tempe Auto Spa, every vehicle that enters our service area receives a full exterior wash and decontamination as a part of our Quality Assurance process.

However, paint protection film installation is an extremely delicate process. It requires a vehicle to be impeccably clean and free of debris before it enters our film installation clean room. This includes all those nooks and crannies, edges, and hidden spots where dust, bug splatter, and other contaminants are trapped.

Here is how we prepped the GT4 RS – and every other vehicle prior to PPF install.

  1. Full Exterior Car Wash – this step removes all standing dirt and debris, and most surface contamination.
  2. Full Exterior Clay Bar Treatment – clay bar treatment is completed to remove embedded or hard to remove debris, like brake dust, bug splatter, tree sap and more.
  3. Paint Correction – at The Tempe Auto Spa, we strongly recommend paint correction to be completed prior to installation of clear bra. This ensures that the clear coat is free of swirl marks, paint imperfections, and any embedded contaminates. The GT4 RS owner wanted the vehicle’s exterior to POP – so we completed the correction prior to finishing the rest of the decontamination process.
  4. Exterior Detail – once the clay bar treatment is complete, our prep team will use specialized detailing tools to clean those tight spots and cracks.
  5. Final Rinse – using high-pressure filtered water, our detailing team will complete a final rinse – to remove any residue remaining from previous cleaning.
  6. High Pressure Air Dry – to complete the initial decontamination process, we use high pressure air hoses to completely dry the surface and reach those microscopic tight spaces.
  7. Surface Prep Spray – the final step of the prep process is to apply a specialized surface prep spray on all installation areas. This leaves the area surgically clean – and ready for PPF application.

Step 2 – PPF Installation

Once the 2024 Porsche GT4 RS was polished and prepped, the installation is kicked off. Our film technical team (Tristan and Anthony) prefer to install PPF in a front to back – side to side method. For full vehicle clear bra projects, we start with the front end, applying the film to the front bumper, hood, and fenders.

With Porsche vehicles specifically – we do not install PPF to the headlights, as there is a protective coating applied at the factory which makes it very difficult for the film to properly adhere.

As each section is completed, the team proceeds towards the rear, applying PPF to the a-pillars, doors, roof, rear fenders, hatch, and rear bumper.

Our Tempe Auto Spa team applies paint protection film to all painted surfaces and carbon fiber – including that stylish rear wing.

Front Bumper PPF Installation

Once the GT4 RS was prepped, our team of clear bra installers, Tristan and Anthony began the process of applying our SunTek Reaction Ceramic Coated Paint Protection Film. You can see the attention to detail it takes to install clear bra on the front bumper.

Front Fender

After the front bumper and hood are complete, Tristan moves to install the PPF to the front fenders. In this picture you can see him tucking the film edges – so the seams do not show, and the entire painted surfaces is protected.

Rear Hatch

The full vehicle PPF installation continued with all doors, the roof, and finally to the rear of the vehicle. Anthony and Tristan work together to ensure the film is properly applied, tacked, and fit with precision.

Carbon Fiber Wing

One of the great features of SunTek Reaction is that it bonds exceptionally well to carbon fiber. For that added protection, Anthony installed the PPF on the wing and struts.

Final Fitting and Initial Inspection

As our film technians wrap up the PPF installation, they complete an initial Quality Assurance inspection. During this phase, while the adhesive has not yet cured, they are able to make any fine adjustments to seams, or film location.

Step 3 – Ceramic Window Film Installation

This project also included installation of our Ultimate IR ceramic window film – by Ceramic Pro. Ultimate IR is the world’s first Luxury Window Film, producing industry leading heat rejection and optical clarity – without any satellite or mobile signal interference.

Our window film team installed this tint on day #2 of the project, on the front doors and the rear window.

The process for installing window tint is just as detailed as PPF.

  1. Computer Cut: The first step is to prepare the window film for the Porsche GT4 RS. Tempe Auto Spa uses a plotter which will precisely cut the film in a pattern that matches the specific window.
  2. Weeding the Film: Once the computer cut is complete, the technician will apply the film to a standing glass platform to weed the film. When the film is plotted, it is not rendered completely in the shape of the window. The weeding process allows the technician to manually trim each section of film by hand.
  3. Complete Window Decontamination: Our window tint technicians will completely clean and decontaminate the entire window – inside and out. This involves the use of special chemical cleaning agents and a bit of elbow grease, to ensure no lint, dirt, or dust will be trapped between the film and the window.
  4. Shrinking: Prior to installation, the tinting tech will tac the film to the outside of the window to shrink the film. This process involves the application of heat to shrink the tint for a precision fit.
  5. Door Protection: Installing window film involves the use of a lot of slip solution – or soapy water. Prior to applying any film, our team will protect the entire door, by installing protective material along the door edge. This eliminates the potential of water leaking into the window seal or electrical components.
  6. Window Film installation: At this point, the film is installed by the technician. They will apply slip solution to allow the film to float on the window, so they can precisely fit it. The tech uses a squeegee to remove standing water from the film and activate the adhesive.
  7. Precision Fitting: The final step of window tint installation is the tedious process of precision fitting tight corners of the window. This ensures that the film is properly bonded to the glass – which reduces the potential for bubbles, or other tint imperfections.

Step 4 – Wheels Off Ceramic Coating Installation

The final touch was to apply Ceramic Pro’s iconic coating to the four wheels and brake calipers. A wheels off ceramic coating package is exactly that – removing the wheels from the vehicle, completely cleaning and prepping the front and back of the wheels – and the brake calipers for ceramic coating installation.

The wheels off coating process involves the following steps:

  1. Remove the wheels from the vehicle.
  2. Cleaning and decontamination of the wheels and brake caliper.
  3. Applying the ceramic coating to the back of the wheels, wheel face, and brake caliper.
  4. Initial drying and curing.
  5. Reinstall the wheels and torquing them to manufacture specifications.

Step 5 – Full Vehicle Protection Quality Assurance Checks

At The Tempe Auto Spa, we take a lot of pride in the meticulous craftsmanship in our work. Our technical team is comprised of experts with decades of experience. However, the key to our success is a multiple-step quality assurance process that ensures every detail is inspected, resolved, and verified prior to releasing anything to the customer.

This is especially important with paint protection film installation – as it’s quite common for small bubbles to appear during the initial curing process.

After the entire Porsche GT4 RS protection project was finished, our QA team went to work, inspecting the ceramic coating application to the wheels & calipers, window tint installation, and every section of the vehicle that had clear bra installed.

It’s not uncommon for QA to take a few hours to complete – but when you’re investing thousands of dollars in protecting your vehicle, this attention to detail on our end is vital to exceeding your expectations.
